Manage me I'm a mess
Turn a page, I'm a book
Half unread
I wanna be laughed at
Laughed with, just because
I wanna feel weightless
And that should be enough
Well I'm stuck in this fucking rut
Waiting on a second hand pick me up
And I'm over, getting older
If I could just find the time
Then I would never let another day go by
I'm over, getting old
Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction
To everything I fear
Cause I've been going crazy I don't want to waste another minute here
Make believe that I impress
That every word
By design
Turns a head
I wanna feel reckless
I wanna live it up, just because
I wanna feel weightless
Cause that would be enough
If I could just find the time
Then I would never let another day go by
I'm over, getting old
Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction
To everything I fear
Cause I've been going crazy I don't want to waste another minute here
This could be all that I've waited for
(Waited, I've waited for)
And this could be everything
I don't wanna dream anymore
Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year
And I've been going crazy
I'm stuck in here
Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year (it's gonna be my year)
And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere (go nowhere)
And this is my reaction
To everything I fear (everything I fear)
Cause I've been going crazy I don't want to waste another minute here

All Time Low is breaking out from playing in their garage, to having the glory of being listed on iTunes with their new hit “Weightless” that has meaning of life twisted within the up-beat lyrics. Playing the beat based on Green Day and singing similarly to We the Kings, All Time Low was brave enough to give us the lyrics of what we all have thought at one point in time, but have been to scared and controlled to say. The need to break out and find the meaning in our life, and breaking all the rules to get there.
“Weightless” begins with a metaphor; “Turn a page, I'm a book/Half unread”, leaving us all wondering what the “book” is (2-3). Most likely, its an example of his life, being only half lived or half fulfilled. All Time Low goes on to tell us of how they want attention. “I wanna be laughed at/Laughed with, just because”, giving the example that everyone wants to feel accepted and loved in some way(5-6). After only hearing the first few lines, I can instantly relate – and who can't? At some point in time we all had or will have the feeling depression.
It takes time to find yourself, and All Time Low is willing to work to get there. “If I could just find the time/Then I would never let another day go by/I'm over, getting older”, deeper meaning to these lyrics could be as simple as time is precious and time moves on, no matter how hard we try to stop it (15-17). We all try and act timeless. Woman will stop at nothing to keep their faces from aging, and men are in better shape then they should be.
All Time Low also has hope spun into their lyrics. “Maybe it's not my weekend/But it's gonna be my year” shows that their lives have had rough patches just like everyone else's (19-20). Yet they aren't giving up hope because that small bump in their life is nothing compared to the amount of time left in the rest of their lives.
Through out the entire song, All Time Low seems to question the way they were living. How they finally realized that how they were living wasn't enough. “And this could be everything/I don't wanna dream anymore” talks about how they are finished with wishing what they want their life to be about, and are finally bursting forth and actually living it (50-51).
